Nissan LEAF Wins New J.D. Power Award

J.D. Power & Associates puts out a number of important automotive accolades every year, including honors for reliability, performance, and dealership experience, but this year the organization came up with a new award for the best model redesigns of a given year. Here at Hall Nissan Chesapeake, we were very pleased to see that the Nissan LEAF was lauded as this year's highest-rated redesign.

The award is one of two new ones given out by J.D. Power this year, but the redesign of the Nissan LEAF is one that is especially exciting considering its jaw-dropping efficiency numbers. Equipped with a 110-kw AC synchronous electric motor mated with a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery, the vehicle can make up to 147 hp without zero emissions.

Better still, the new version integrates more modern design language, integrating the V-Motion grille in the Nissan LEAF for the first time.

"This award is a credit to hundreds of Nissan technical professionals here in the U.S., as well as in Japan," said Chris Reed, senior vice president of engineering at Nissan North America. "Any vehicle redesign requires a massive amount of coordination across many functional teams, and I am very proud of the excellent vehicle this effort produced which has been recognized by J.D. Power."

While we are proud of every Nissan car here at Hall Nissan Chesapeake, we always love to see when our pet models receive the attention they deserve. Green driving is the wave the of the future, and models like the Nissan LEAF are helping to usher us there. If you would like to check out the redesigned Nissan LEAF in person, stop by any time so we can get you behind the wheel and show you what J.D. Power fell in love with when handing out their inaugural Engineering Awards.
